Blue Monday survived #MicroblogMonday

So apparently today, the third Monday in January, is known for being the most depressing day of the year for a lot of people. That's why it has therefore been nicknamed, "Blue Monday"! Probably due to some of the following reasons:

  • The weather is usually crap. Here it's been cold, grey and dark.

  • Everyone is still broke after Christmas and there's another week to get through before pay day.

  • January can be a bit dull. There isn't much happening after the Christmas party season and most people are detoxing and off the booze now anyway.

  • Plus if all that isn't bad enough, it's a Monday!

Actually my day wasn't too bad. Not any worse than most Mondays! The GerMann and I have booked a one week sun holiday for mid February so it helps having that to look forward to!

Did you survive Blue Monday?

  1. The third Monday of the year in the town where I live in is often the last day of the summer holidays (it's a public holiday here), so I guess it is blue for many people. But for most of us, it is midsummer, the sun shines and the beach and barbecues beckon. Sorry, I know that doesn't help. But your mid-Feb holiday definitely sounds like something to look forward to.

(PS. The traveller in me wants to know where you're going - Middle East, Asia or further afield?)

    1. Going to Lanzarote, one of the Canary Islands. Not too far but also not too expensive and only a four hour flight so nice place to go from Germany when you only have one week!

  2. We had off -- MLK Day here -- so no blues here. Though I could see it being a difficult day if it had been grey and wintery.

Yes, yes, where in the sun? Somewhere good?
